Not Your Traditional IT Data Center

FREDC Data Centers function as a digital forensic data server and complete forensic network infrastructure. The heart of each FREDC is a SERVER-RM module, powered by Intel Dual Xeon E5-2620 processors, with 8 cores per cpu. Upgrades of 10, 14, and 18 cores per cpu are available. 128 GB DDR4 memory is standard, upgradeable to 256 and 512 GB. Each FREDC Server-RM comes standard with a ten drive internal RAID array for operating system, workstation images and other data storage needs. FREDC systems also include a sixteen drive RAID-RM module for digital evidence storage. As evidence storage needs grow, additional RAID-RM modules can be added. RAID6 fault tolerance is standard and other types of RAID striping are also supported. FREDC Data Centers achieve extremely fast data transfers with dual 10 Gb ethernet networks, standard with FREDC installations. The FREDC SERVER-RM’s operating system is OpenSUSE Linux, optimized by Cyint Technologies for incredible performance and near-zero system administration. With a FREDC Data Center, you avoid the headaches, upgrades, and higher support cost that come with traditional Windows data server environments.

Direct to Network Imaging

The 10 GB Ethernet backbone supports direct-to-network forensic imaging at drive limited speeds. Direct-to-network imaging saves time and resources by eliminating the need to use interim storage devices. Each FREDC network module includes a 48-port Gigabit Ethernet (10/100/1000) switch for connecting workstations, network printers, and other devices. Standard on all FREDC’s is the FRED-RM (rackmount) forensic workstation. Each FRED-RM, itself a processing and forensic imaging powerhouse, ships with Windows 10 Pro 64-bit and OpenSUSE Linux operating systems. Exclusive to DI, the UltraBay 4d has advanced imaging features (single drive or multiple simultaneous drive imaging), read/write modes (for non-forensic drive wiping), and a touch-screen UI for device information access and management not available in other forensic systems.

To further reduce the cost of FREDC ownership, we’ve included a proprietary set of system and network administration utilities. Built by Cyint Technologies, these utilities reduce or eliminate the time and effort required to maintain a properly running high-performance forensic network. Network workstation installation, system backup, system restoration, drive mapping, single user sign-on, and even bare metal disaster recovery is made almost trivial.

How Many Petabytes Do You Need?

FREDC’s fault tolerant data storage capacity is huge. Each FREDC Data Center includes a minimum of 260 TB of fault tolerant storage (100 TB in the SERVER-RM module and 160 TB in the RAID-RM module). For more storage simply add additional RAID-RM modules in 160 TB increments. FREDC Data Centers can provide evidence and data storage capacity well in excess of 3 petabytes.

Share Software Licenses. Lower Software Costs

Use FREDC to manage your software investment. Forensic and eDiscovery software license dongles connected to the SERVER-RM USB 3.0 ports are managed as shared resources for departmental access and use. This feature, exclusive to Cyint Technologies FREDC Data Centers promotes efficient sharing of software licenses and may help lower software licensing costs.

Peace of Mind with Automated Alerts

FREDC Data Centers ship standard with a 16-tape robotic tape library and enterprise class backup/archival software. The backup software is pre-installed and configured to support automated archival of evidence and other data./p> Cyint Technologies proprietary FREDC SMS gateway supports real-time, text-based event notifications. Problems like disk failures and temperature alerts trigger automatic notifications sent to a configurable list of recipients. This feature is available at no additional charge to our North American customers.
